Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at Black Box. As an Infrastructure Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems, including Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6, and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and service low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, and other various low voltage related systems.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Perform upgrades and additions to cabling infrastructure systems to increase functionality and usability.
  • Assist in the rack and stack of network devices.
  • Assist in the installation of Cisco routers and switches.
  • Patch cables to network devices.
  • Complete work orders for break fix and MACS (moves, adds, changes).
  • Coordinate with other team members to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or certification in a technology services/technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems.
  • Proven ability to install, terminate, and test low voltage cables and fiber optic cables.
  • Industry and manufacturer-specific experience and/or certifications preferred.
  • Must be familiar with 66 Block and 110 Block cross-connect procedures.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of Cisco switches and routers.
  • Comprehension of terminology pertaining to installation and service of cabling infrastructure for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, including BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and national electric code.
