Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute a variety of complex technical accounting tasks related to assigned financial systems, including accounts payable and receivable.
  2. Coordinate and manage information to ensure timely completion of projects, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  3. Interpret and apply accounting standards and regulations to ensure adherence to established practices.
  4. Prepare, maintain, and verify comprehensive financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures.
  5. Compile and produce detailed financial statements, analyses, and reports, assisting in data organization and analysis.
  6. Balance and reconcile financial statements and accounts, providing analytical reports as needed.
  7. Support accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice preparation and vendor payment processing.
  8. Conduct audits of various financial records and prepare necessary analytical documentation.
  9. Maintain the chart of accounts and enter journal entries into financial ledgers.
  10. Respond to inquiries and provide technical assistance to staff and the public, interpreting policies and resolving issues efficiently.
  11. Utilize various software applications for data entry, report generation, and document creation.
  12. Assist in training new employees in accounting practices and procedures.
  13. Perform general clerical duties to support departmental operations.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a strong ability to manage complex financial records. A background in governmental accounting and familiarity with relevant laws and regulations is preferred.

Education and Experience:

Completion of high school education, supplemented by college-level coursework in accounting or finance, along with four years of relevant experience in clerical and technical accounting roles.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to perform tasks that involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing, and the use of office equipment.
