Position Overview:

This role is essential in the Warehouse, overseeing the management of Canteen and Laundry orders, their distribution, and various processes to ensure that products are readily available for staff and residents. The individual in this position is responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of essential items, including cleaning supplies, household goods, uniforms, office materials, and other miscellaneous items necessary for the efficient operation of the institution. The incumbent will supervise, train, and assist residents, promoting compliance with safety standards while modeling pro-social behaviors, problem-solving techniques, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to the following)

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for resident and officer uniforms, including size information for items on hand, on order, damaged, and required sizes.
  • Oversee total laundry production, including driving a laundry truck, ensuring quality control, and managing the delivery of linen and clothing. Responsible for processing and shipping all apparel. Assign, review, and evaluate work while communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Supervise residents assigned to laundry tasks to ensure adherence to established procedures and schedules.
  • Catalog, record, and inventory all property items purchased, transferred, or allocated to the facility.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of all necessary items, including cleaning supplies, household goods, office materials, and miscellaneous items. Initiate paperwork to begin the ordering process and collaborate with the Procurement Officer II regarding supply needs, consumption, and issues affecting job performance. Ensure proper stock rotation and dating. Directly supervise residents, maintaining custody, control, and discipline. Provide training and guidance to residents assigned to canteen/laundry tasks. Respond to inmate communication forms.
  • Receive deliveries from vendors, logging and checking in all freight, marking property for appropriate departments. Verify packing or delivery slips to ensure compliance with orders regarding quantity, condition, quality, and specifications. Assist in other areas as necessary to cover staff shortages.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate data collection system.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, with periodic reviews by the General Services Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in storekeeping, including receiving, inspecting, cataloging, and storing goods, as well as maintaining inventory records. Relevant education may substitute for required experience as determined by the agency.
