- Provide care for dogs, including running, bathing, feeding, exercising, and grooming in a group setting.
- Ensure a safe and enriching environment for dogs in our care.
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the Canine Development Center.
- Engage in socialization activities to minimize stress for dogs.
- Assist with health care routines and administer medications as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility and equipment.
- Support the assessment and placement of dogs transitioning from training.
- Evaluate incoming dogs for suitability in training programs.
- Train new staff and volunteers on canine care procedures.
- Support individuals who are blind or visually impaired in caring for their guide dogs.
- Handle data entry tasks as assigned.
- Assist the veterinary department with follow-up care for dogs.
- Facilitate park times and other activities for dogs in training.
- Transport dogs for veterinary appointments as required.
- May assist in Breeding and Puppy Care, including caring for puppies and breeding dogs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in dog care or related fields is preferred.
- Ability to maintain humane treatment and care of dogs.
- Flexibility to work any day or shift.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to manage workload effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good judgment and professional conduct.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required for driving duties.
- Ability to work independently and take direction.
- Experience working with volunteers is a plus.
- Comfortable working with large dogs.
- Willingness to engage in public relations activities.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
The physical demands of this position include the ability to sit, talk, hear, and occasionally drive. The role requires frequent reaching, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
