About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Hotel Engineer to join Marriott International, Inc. as a key member of our facilities team. As a Hotel Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as performing repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure the hotel's facilities are safe and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and attend to guest repair requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Conduct regular visual inspections of tools, equipment, or machines to identify potential issues and prevent downtime.
- Carry equipment, such as tools and radios, to designated areas as needed.
- Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and shut-offs for buildings, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed to ensure efficient operations.
- Display proficiency in one of the following categories:
- Air conditioning and refrigeration
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Plumbing
- Pneumatic/electronic systems and controls
- Carpentry and finish skills
- Kitchen equipment
- Vehicles
- Energy conservation
- General building management
- Display solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
- Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC copper pipe, including soldering.
- Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing, and electrical equipment, including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
- Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and the complete and thorough cleanup of the painting or repair area.
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work to ensure a safe working environment.
- Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs.
- Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel MEP systems to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Display the ability to train and mentor other engineers, such as Engineer I, to ensure a high level of technical expertise within the team.
- Display ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds, to ensure a safe and operational hotel environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background.
- At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
- Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
