Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at Tucson Medical Center. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of mechanical maintenance and repairs to hospital vehicles, scooters, trailers, and maintenance equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and replacement of broken parts.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and equipment.
• Dismantle maintenance equipment and/or electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts; adjust functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
• Isolate defective wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as an ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter, testing lamp or growler.
• Perform welding operations associated with installation and repair.
• Organize and maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; order replacement parts.
• Keep work area orderly, clean, and safe; ensure proper care in use of equipment and supplies.
• Extract data from sources such as repair/maintenance orders, reports, and vehicle, equipment, and/or parts specifications.
• Assure complete and proper logging of files and work orders; record required cost computations of time spent and materials used for each completed requisition or work order.
• Monitor fuel supplies and schedule deliveries as needed.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Four (4) years of related auto maintenance and equipment repair experience or training.
• Capable of obtaining respirator certification. Must maintain a current TMC tug license.
• Knowledge of mechanical and automotive repair.
• Skill in applying mechanical knowledge and safety rules in the performance of any repair process.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete routine reports, work orders, and correspondence.
• Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
