Position Summary and Responsibilities
InsideHigherEd is seeking a full-time Community Engagement Manager to enhance the development of an NSF-funded open-source framework for behavioral research. This framework is centered around jsPsych, a JavaScript library designed for constructing behavioral experiments. The primary focus of the Community Engagement Manager will be to collaborate with software users and developers to foster the growth of this ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize both in-person and virtual hackathons to promote community engagement.
  • Conduct outreach initiatives, including user interviews to identify needs, drafting project updates, and creating a roadmap to communicate upcoming changes.
  • Evaluate community sustainability and present findings.
  • Implement policy modifications to enhance software security.
  • Develop new documentation and tutorials for users.
  • Provide assistance in community discussion forums and support community governance.
  • Contribute to the development of experiment templates.
  • Supervise undergraduate research assistants.
  • Test and evaluate new development tools.


This is a two-year, full-time, grant-funded position.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in conducting behavioral research, particularly in online settings.
  • Strong ability to collaborate in small teams and communicate effectively with a diverse range of community members.

Preferred
  • Familiarity with jsPsych.
  • Programming skills in JavaScript or similar languages.
  • Experience utilizing GitHub.
  • Background in organizational or leadership roles.
