Community-Engaged Learning Program Specialist
4 weeks ago
This is a project-based, grant-funded, limited term consultant position, reporting to the Director of the Office of Community-Engaged Learning. The position will provide assessment support and serve as a consultant for community-engaged learning efforts on campus, including participating in the Office of Community Engaged Learning's (OCEL) efforts to create changes towards critical community-engaged pedagogy, equitable and justice-centered partnership building, and engaged scholarship. The consultant will measure the impact of the Community-Engaged Intensives in the Humanities Initiative (CEIH) on teaching, student learning, and partnership building, gather qualitative and narrative testimony about the supports necessary for curriculum development, outcomes of community-engaged coursework, and the role of community partners as co-educators in the liberal arts, and undertake a holistic assessment of campus-wide community engaged efforts, including the Vassar Education Collaboration (VEC) and the relationship to the OCEL, that centers best practices in the broader field.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in community engaged learning, higher education, non-profit, grants, or equivalent professional experience. Strong proficiency with assessment, including quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting, is required. The candidate should also have interest in and experience with community-based work, community-engaged learning or critical service-learning pedagogy, curriculum development, and campus-community collaborations. Strong proficiency with software platforms and multiple technology applications, including Microsoft and Google Suite, is also necessary. The consultant will work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Strong writing and research skills, with the ability to analyze information and communicate it to diverse audiences in multimedia format, are also essential. Knowledge of Poughkeepsie/Dutchess County is desirable.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and a narrative programmatic or qualitative research-based writing sample to Elizabeth Cannon, Director of Community-Engaged Learning (ecannon@vassar.edu). For consideration, please submit materials by July 19, 2024.
