Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment as necessary.
  • Specify, execute, and interpret mechanical and metallurgical weld tests.
  • Provide daily support for GTA and VPPA work areas, including shop travelers, production schedules, welder qualifications, and material traceability documentation.
  • Manage projects and relationships with external testing laboratories, material suppliers, equipment suppliers, and other business entities.
  • Maintain general shop skills, including Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements, ESD, and contamination control of precision clean systems.
  • Travel as required to support design interface meetings, equipment assistance, or off-site development activities.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized workspace to uphold a 5S work environment.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in GTA, PA, or VPPA welding, with a strong background in process development and improvements.

  • Solid understanding of metallurgy and/or arc physics.
  • A collaborative mindset, open to rapidly changing requirements.

  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts effectively.

  • Proven ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in materials or welding engineering.
  • Familiarity with aerospace fusion welding processes involving stainless steel, nickel, titanium, and aluminum materials.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Strong written and computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in interpreting weld NDT results.
  • Capability to write and maintain WPS, PQR, and WQR in accordance with AWS D17.1 or other welding standards.

  • Hands-on experience in machining and welding.
  • Knowledge of operation, programming, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanized and orbital welding systems.

  • Proficient in CAD (Creo preferred).

Inclusivity Statement:

At Blue Origin, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with every desired qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this or other roles.
