Position Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Duke Raleigh Hospital plays a vital role in delivering direct nursing care to assigned patients under the guidance of a registered nurse or physician. This position is integral to ensuring that patients receive high-quality care tailored to their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:
As an LPN, your duties will include:

  • Providing and documenting direct nursing care to patients as per the nursing care plan.
  • Reporting patient responses to care to a registered nurse for evaluation and necessary adjustments to the care plan.
  • Assisting healthcare personnel in delivering comprehensive patient care.
  • Supporting physicians and nursing staff during various diagnostic procedures.
  • Evaluating nursing care with a focus on patient responses and prioritizing nursing interventions.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policies aimed at enhancing patient comfort and safety.
  • Participating in maintaining a safe and efficient care environment, including equipment management.
  • Engaging in performance improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities for clinical enhancements.
  • Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff members.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program.
  • Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or a compact license while pursuing North Carolina LPN licensure.
  • Preferred: 1+ year of nursing experience.

Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of the licensed practical nurse scope and the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Competence in basic life support and other specialized support requirements.
  • Ability to maintain focus and organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of infection control procedures and safety protocols.
