We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at Katmai. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of surgical equipment and supplies
- Provide patient care activities, including transporting patients and related records
- Assist with routing medical material management activities
- Perform routine safety checks and operator preventive maintenance on medical equipment
- Assist anesthesia personnel with patient positioning and anesthesia administration
- Apply principles of asepsis, infection control, and medical ethics
- Assist with terminal cleanup of OR and prepares for follow-up procedures
- Receives, decontaminates, and cleans soiled patient care items
- Assembles, wraps, and sterilizes instrument sets, supplies, and linen packs
- Stores, maintains, and distributes sterile patient care items
- Assists the circulating nurse with preparing records, reports, and requests
- Performs scrub duties in the Operating Room
- Completion of an accredited surgical service and clinical course
- Completion of a surgical technologist program recognized and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
- At least 12 months of experience within the last 36 months as a surgical services technician
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Red Cross
- Ability to effectively read, write, and speak English
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people
Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit military treatment facility such as a clinic, outpatient facility, or hospital. The environment is normally air-conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances.
Compensation and BenefitsPay is $30.00 to $34.57 per hour. Eligible benefits include medical, dental, vision, group term life and AD&D insurance, voluntary life and AD&D insurances, voluntary long-term and short-term disability insurance, dependent spouse life insurance, and dependent life insurance.
