Day to Day duties:
As a Surgical Technologist on our Heart Team, you will scrub on all cases and specialize in heart, vascular, general, gynecology, urology, ortho, spine, neuro, plastics, robotics, and trauma procedures. You will work in a dedicated service team for hearts and vascular only and be cross-trained for all other services.
You will provide excellent patient care, maintain a sterile field during procedures, and hand instruments to surgeons. You will also assist with room turnover and restocking for the next day's cases.
We require one year of OR experience and previous cardiac/heart team experience. You will work 40 hours a week, with call required, and average 1 call shift per week.
Qualifications:
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Basic computer skills are required, and experience in a specialty field is preferred. You must have a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved Surgical Technician program. You must also have BLS from the American Heart Association and current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist.
Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) is also required.

The Surgery Department at Penrose Hospital has 16 OR suites and performs 30-40 cases per day. We specialize in heart, vascular, general, gynecology, urology, ortho, spine, neuro, plastics, robotics, and trauma procedures on adult patients only.
