Job Title: Airport Operations Specialist

Sydney Regional Airport Authority is seeking a highly skilled Airport Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Airfield Operations department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our airport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all shift activities, including coordination and monitoring of functions to ensure work is performed in accordance with airport policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Represent Airport Management in all aspects of airport operations.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and safety by performing standard safety and security inspections of aircraft operating areas and terminal facilities.
  • Work with departments to coordinate airport responses to critical incidents, irregular operations, and emergencies.
  • Monitor and inspect airport activities, properties, and facilities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on construction and maintenance projects to ensure minimal operational disruption.
  • Serve as liaison between Airport and contractors during airfield construction activities.
  • Record and provide reports on incidents and accidents.
  • Monitor and approve the use of shared-use equipment.
  • Provide direction and instruction on resolving critical incidents and situations.
  • Review and maintain records and operational logs.
  • Investigate complaints and issues.
  • Make recommendations for general policy development.
Requirements:
  • Expert knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139 and 77, and 49 CFR 1542.
  • Expert knowledge of airport operations and activities.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Working knowledge of two-way radio communication systems.
  • Knowledge of SMS and ability to report safety-related items.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Ability to assess operational situations and make sound judgment calls.
  • Ability to act in calm and rational manner during stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to use computers and proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Promotional: One year of work experience in airport field maintenance or airport communications center.
  • Open/competitive: Bachelor's degree in aviation management or equivalent, or four years of work experience in airport operations, airside, and/or landside.
Special Necessary Requirements:
  • At time of appointment, possession of a valid New York State driver's license.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and obtain SIDA clearance.
  • Required to obtain ACE Operations within first two years.
