Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Mental Health Associate to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in Wilmington, DE.

The successful candidate will provide rehabilitation and support functions, assist in treatment, and provide substance abuse services, education, support, and consultation to families, as well as provide crisis intervention under clinical supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison and consult with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process.
  • Provide service coordination (case management) for assigned group of participants, including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual's treatment team, and assuming primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising the overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the participant and the team.
  • Provide on-call crisis intervention covering nighttime hours.
  • Provide symptom education to enable participants to identify their mental illness symptoms.
  • Coordinate with state vocational rehabilitation and other employment services.
  • Provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services with some interventions directed or performed by staff with specialty training and skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, or a related human services degree.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse systems and supports.
  • Mental Health Associate with ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel to several residential locations, with company vehicle provided during working hours.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent talking and listening.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, hold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop, and bend, which may include direct intervention with participants.
  • Local travel required, including transporting program participants.
  • Requires carrying a cell phone and being available to respond to emergency situations.
  • May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.
  • May require crisis intervention in emergency situations.
