The private investment group of Neuberger Berman, NB Private Markets, manages over $115 billion of client commitments since inception, with a significant portion of these commitments managed on behalf of Japanese clients, including insurance companies, banks, and pension funds.
The company's Japan private markets business has been growing rapidly, driven by customized separate accounts programs diversified across asset classes, investment strategies, and geographies.

Investment Strategies:
The company's investment strategies include:
- Primary Fund Investments: Investing in private equity funds across asset classes (buyout, special situations, growth equity, and venture capital) and geographies (North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America)
- Equity Co-Investments: Investing directly in private companies alongside premier private equity sponsors
- Secondaries: Acquiring limited partnership interests in seasoned private equity funds and structuring and executing GP-led secondary transactions
- Private Credit & Capital Solutions: Investing in junior and senior private debt instruments, including first and second lien, unitranche, mezzanine, and preferred instruments, in profitable and cash-generative private equity-owned companies
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Building a deep understanding of private investment strategies, including primary fund investments, equity co-investments, secondaries, and private credit and capital solutions
- Managing investment planning and portfolio construction for customized separate accounts programs with Japanese investors as part of the Japan Coverage Team
- Liaising with investment team members, legal, finance, and Japanese sales force in Tokyo to prepare responses to RFPs, respond to prospect/client inquiries, and deliver monitoring reports
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, private equity marketing, accounting, reporting, or placement agent
- English proficiency is required, and Japanese proficiency is preferred
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $100,000-$120,000, and the company offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), life insurance, and other benefits to eligible employees.
