About the Job:

The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Officer to protect its facilities, employees, and visitors from potential threats. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about security and customer service.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a career professional who is looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Security Officer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of an armed tactical response element
  • Participate in training to develop requisite skill sets necessary for the defense of a National Critical Infrastructure
  • Secure physical security perimeters
  • Visually and physically inspect vehicles and passengers
  • Enforce applicable rules and regulations governing vehicle use, parking, building or other facility access
Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National
  • Must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation
  • Must submit a resume and supporting documentation
  • Must meet any minimum experience requirements
  • Must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times
  • Must be able to wear the Reclamation issued uniform while working
  • Must be able to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician
  • Must be able to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment
  • Must be able to successfully complete an intensive 8-10 week basic training conducted at Grand Coulee
Qualifications:
  • In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement
  • To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service
  • To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in federal service

Evaluation Process:

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above. In order to be considered for this position, you must complete all required steps in the process. The evaluation process will include a review of your resume and supporting documentation, as well as a technical questionnaire and an Employment PT Testing.

Additional Information:

This position is designated as a HIGH RISK Public Trust position. It requires a fully completed and favorably adjudicated Public Trust Suitability Background Investigation (T4 or T4R or equivalent) that is current (within the last 5 years). This is a condition of employment. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must certify registration with the Selective Service System or that the applicant is exempt from having to do so under the Selective Service Law
