About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Transportation Security Officer to join our team at the Transportation Security Administration. As a key member of our security team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of air travelers, airports, and aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate various screening equipment and technology to identify and prevent dangerous objects from being transported onto aircraft.
  • Perform searches and screenings, which may include physical interaction with passengers, conducting bag searches, and lifting/carrying bags and property weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Control terminal entry and exit points, ensuring the secure movement of people and goods.
  • Interact with the public, providing directions and responding to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain focus and awareness in a stressful environment, identifying and responding to potential security threats.
  • Engage in continuous development of critical thinking skills, applying risk-based security screening protocols to mitigate actual and potential security threats.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship or Nationality
  • Age 18 or older
  • Selective Service registration
  • Pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation
  • Subject to post-employment random drug and/or alcohol testing
  • Available to work various shifts and overtime, as needed
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehending)
  • Mandatory travel for training and occasional travel may be required
Physical Demands
  • Maintain physical agility to ensure ability to squat and bend
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and manipulate baggage, containers, weighing approximately 50 pounds and other objects subject to security processing
  • Ability to walk up to three (3) miles during a shift and stand for prolonged periods (up to 4 hours) of time
