Position Overview
The California Highway Patrol is seeking a dedicated professional to join its Information Security Office. The selected candidate will act as the Department's Information Security Officer (ISO) and will lead critical projects focused on the design, planning, development, documentation, and maintenance of the Department's Information Security Program. This role requires a high level of expertise in evaluating and advising on information security practices, policies, and methodologies for statewide operations, while representing the Department in interactions with the Office of Information Security (OIS) within the California Department of Technology.Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an industry expert in the area of information technology and security.
- Exhibit advanced knowledge in developing technological strategies and policies.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and influence within the team.
- Exercise significant decision-making authority over sensitive and complex information security projects.
- Coordinate the comprehensive development and review of technology recovery plans and statewide risk assessments.
- Design, implement, and document information security awareness training for all departmental employees annually.
- Report security metrics utilizing methodologies established by the OIS.
- Engage in activities coordinated by the OIS to enhance understanding and response to security incidents and cybersecurity threats.
Work Environment
The core business hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The incumbent may be required to work extended hours during emergencies and may occasionally need to travel for meetings, training, or conferences.
Special Requirements
- A background investigation must be successfully completed prior to employment.
