Quality Assurance Leadership

We are developing a cutting-edge web-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) tool and API tailored for our EV manufacturing clientele. Our software team is characterized by its lean, agile, and high-performing nature, comprising a small group of full-time engineers based on the West Coast of the US, supplemented by international contractors. Our enterprise clients in the automotive manufacturing sector expect nothing less than perfection, which is reflected in our collective commitment to quality across the organization. Quality is a shared responsibility ingrained in our company culture.

Our Approach to Quality

We believe that achieving product excellence requires the careful and thorough application of various processes, including:

  1. Manual Testing
  2. Automated Testing
  3. Internal product usage
  4. Customer Feedback (both direct and indirect)
  5. Engineer testing and tools

Role Overview

We are seeking a leader to coordinate these quality assurance initiatives throughout the organization. Key responsibilities for the Quality Assurance Lead include:

  1. Formulating, managing, documenting, and enhancing the QA strategy and processes.
  2. Recruiting and overseeing local and international QA engineers to support team growth.
  3. Creating, maintaining, refining, and executing manual test cases for regression and feature acceptance testing.
  4. Representing QA in cross-functional software project teams, providing guidance on QA practices to be integrated into feature specifications and development processes.
  5. Overseeing automation for regression testing through hands-on coding and leading engineering efforts.
  6. Managing and communicating software release schedules to customers.
  7. Assessing and prioritizing incoming bug reports and feedback from internal users and clients.
  8. Reporting on the overall state of product quality to the leadership team.
  9. Recruiting like-minded professionals through technical assessments and interviews.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  1. A minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance for software product development.
  2. Up-to-date knowledge of the latest QA tools, technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
  3. Experience in hiring and managing QA professionals.
  4. Proven ability to develop comprehensive test strategies and execute them in a leadership context.
  5. Experience in building, deploying, and managing test automation at scale.
  6. Practical experience with SQL databases.
  7. Strong engineering skills and experience, with a proven track record of developing and maintaining complex technical processes.
  8. Demonstrated technical writing skills.
  9. The ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates will be particularly well-suited for this role if they possess any of the following additional attributes:

  1. Professional software development experience.
  2. Hands-on experience with CI/CD or DevOps practices.
  3. Direct experience in Data Science or Statistics in a professional or academic setting.
