Warehouse Driver Assistant

The Driver-Warehouse Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors San Diego's logistics and warehouse functions. This position is responsible for delivering materials and tools to job sites safely and efficiently, as well as maintaining a well-organized warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate a 1-Ton 12 ft. flat-bed truck and a F ft. flat-bed truck to transport materials and tools to job sites.
- Utilize forklift experience to efficiently move materials within the warehouse.
- Perform small tool and equipment repair as needed.
- Ensure the safe lifting and handling of materials, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds.
- Maintain a clean Department of Motor Vehicle Record and a valid Class C Driver's license.
- Properly secure loads to prevent damage during transportation.
- Inspect trucks for defects before and after trips, submitting a report detailing the condition of the vehicle.
- Drive trucks to assigned destinations, assisting workers with unloading and loading materials as required.
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined sequence.
- Fulfill work orders and requests for materials, tools, or other stock items.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Receive deliveries and ensure they are properly processed and stored.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Work a 40-hour work week, with occasional overtime as required.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, demonstrating courtesy to other drivers and representing the company in a positive manner.
- A clean driving record and a valid Class C Driver's license.
- The ability to learn and operate company tools and handle materials safely.
- 3-4 years of general knowledge in construction operations, preferred.
- The ability to operate power equipment, including forklifts.
- Demonstrated integrity, honesty, professionalism, and commitment to company values.
- The ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, customers, and partners.
- Excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- High standards of quality with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in the English language.
- A high school diploma or equivalent experience.
The ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, vendors, and suppliers.
Physical Demands:The physical demands of this role include working in a warehouse and various construction sites, requiring the ability to walk on rugged or uneven terrain, climb, kneel, bend, and push/pull 50 pounds. The employee will also be required to commute to field locations and project sites, navigating around job site locations.
Work Environment:The work environment may involve working outdoors, exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high, precarious places, dust, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, cold, and heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
