Job Summary

The Driver-Warehouse Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors San Diego's logistics and supply chain. This position requires a high level of organization, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage the delivery and receipt of materials and tools to and from job sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a 1-Ton 12 ft. flat-bed truck and a F ft. flat-bed truck to assigned destinations, ensuring safe and timely delivery of materials and tools.
  • Operate a forklift to move materials and equipment within the warehouse and job sites.
  • Repair and maintain small tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Inspect trucks for defects before and after trips, submitting reports on truck condition.
  • Assist workers in unloading and loading trucks, and sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences.
  • Fulfill work orders and requests for materials, tools, or other stock items, maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Receive deliveries, maintain cleanliness of vehicles and warehouse, and adhere to all traffic laws and company policies.
Requirements
  • Clean driving record and ability to learn and operate company tools and handling material.
  • 3 to 4 years of general knowledge in construction operations preferred.
  • Ability to operate power equipment, including forklifts.
  • Integrity, honesty, professionalism, and commitment to company values.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • High standards of quality with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively in the English language.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Work Environment

The Driver-Warehouse Assistant will work in a warehouse and various construction worksites, requiring the ability to walk on rugged or uneven terrain, climb, kneel, bend, and push/pull 50 pounds. The employee will be required to commute to field locations and project sites, navigating around job site locations. The work environment may involve exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high, precarious places, dust, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, cold, and heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
