Job Title: Surgical Technologist

At Children's Health, we are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Main Operating Room. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring that surgical equipment is functioning properly and safely.
  • Set up the sterile field with instruments, supplies, and equipment according to the surgeon's preference cards.
  • Assist in draping the sterile field, passing supplies, equipment, or instruments, and sponging or suctioning an operative site.
  • Prepare and cut suture material, transfer and pour irrigation fluids, and label intraoperative medications according to policy.
  • Handle specimens, hold retractors and other instruments, and apply electro cautery to clamps on bleeders.
  • Connect drains to suction apparatus, apply dressings to closed wounds, and assist in counting sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments with the registered nurse circulator.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a surgical setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school is preferred.
  • Current Surgical Technologist Certification issued by an approved organization.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
