Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center in Durham, NC. As a key member of our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our clinical programs.
Responsibilities- Care for pediatric and adolescent patients with hematologic and/or oncologic diagnoses
- Manage outpatient hematology patients, including some inpatient hematology patient consults and follow-up
- Obtain patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient's record
- Write progress notes, prepare patient workups and summaries, and obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care
- Assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families
- Order and schedule laboratory studies, explain necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects to the patient and family
- Perform procedures, including diagnostic lumbar puncture, intrathecal chemotherapy administration, and bone marrow aspirations/biopsies
- Administer conscious sedation, complete prior authorizations as needed, and participate in triaging of new patient referrals
- Carry out daily care and continuity for Pediatric Hematology Oncology outpatients, monitor progress, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina (for Nurse Practitioners) or licensure in the state of NC and certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- 1+ years of Pediatric or Adult Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, and/or RN work experience (strongly preferred)
