21st Century Learning Center Assistant

Job Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 21st Century Teacher's Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide program assistance to teachers, support academic and personal enrichment activities, and contribute to creating a positive and engaging learning environment for our youth.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and administer Learning Center programs, activities, and services that promote academic success and personal growth.
- Provide effective supervision and guidance to students, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Support teachers during academic and personal enrichment programs, including lesson plan implementation and daily classroom schedules.
- Assist students with assignments and difficult concepts, and maintain communication with parents, staff, and faculty regarding student progress.
- Participate in professional development and complete additional assignments as requested by the Site Coordinator or Project Director.
Requirements:
- Previous work experience with youth, preferably in an afterschool or summer enrichment program.
- Basic understanding of childhood development and steps to support children of various ages.
- Ability to effectively communicate with teachers and parents regarding student progress and behavior.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize activities quickly.
- Personal accountability, patience, and ability to manage potentially challenging behavior from students.
- Experience fostering positive relationships with children and adults in a learning environment.
Working Conditions:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County is an equal opportunity employer and a smoke, drug, and alcohol-free workplace. This position requires extended talking, listening, sitting, walking, and standing; computer viewing, and keyboard entry. Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds is required. Daily operation of personal motor vehicles relevant to carrying out job duties is also required.
