Role Responsibilities:

The Relay Protection and Controls Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing and procuring protective relaying systems for substations, switchyards, and transmission lines.
  • Ensuring compliance with design and construction standards.

  • Providing field support during construction phases as necessary.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical system design within the utilities or energy sector.
  • Proficiency in ETAP, WinIGS, and familiarity with IEEE standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, or Bentley Substation software.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, automation, relay settings, and Protection & Controls engineering principles.
  • Experience in the electric utility or petrochemical industries.

Key Duties:

The Relay Protection and Controls Engineer will:
  • Determine appropriate protection and control strategies for substations.
  • Select suitable protection devices for substation equipment.
  • Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates for substation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with customer standards regarding relay protection.
  • Create comprehensive drawing packages, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Engage with clients and vendors effectively.
  • Conduct load calculations for various substation components.
  • Provide field support and inspections for substation projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.
