About the Role

Cherry Bekaert is seeking an R&D Senior Associate to join our team of tax professionals. As an R&D Senior Associate, you will play a key role in providing tax consulting services related to the Research and Development Tax Credit and capitalization and amortization rules under IRC Section 174.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tax consulting services to clients on R&D tax credits and related matters.
  • Conduct technical interviews with clients to gather information on their research and development activities.
  • Review technical documentation to draft project narratives that document how clients' projects meet Section 174 guidelines.
  • Work with team members to scope research tax credit benefits, conduct research tax credit studies, and interact with clients in a wide range of industries.
  • Create and update costing models to track business expenditures and calculate credits and capitalization amounts.
Requirements
  • Prior experience working with clients and the IRC Section 174 research credit.
  • Recent industry experience in software development, consulting, or engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Knowledge of common computer infrastructure concepts, web-based or n-tiered architectures, performance tuning of databases and middleware.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to conduct technical interviews and write project narratives.
