About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to join our team at Cherry Bekaert. As a Tax Director, you will play a key role in providing exceptional tax services to our clients, including tax planning, compliance, and advisory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead tax engagements and develop engagement budgets, coordinate resources, and manage performance against stated objectives.
  • Provide guidance and experience to ensure that engagement risks are identified and appropriate responses are taken.
  • Work with engagement and client personnel to address complex tax and accounting issues, review finished tax deliverables and tax accruals for accuracy and completeness, and ensure timely client communications.
  • Provide timely status updates to the engagement partner and communicate and involve the partner in the resolution of client service, tax or accounting problems/issues as they arise.
  • Lead a team that provides tax and consulting services to flow-through entities and their related owners in various industries.
  • Plan to minimize tax costs incurred by employers and mitigate the effects of international employees' individual tax liabilities.
  • Serve as a formal and informal mentor to managers and senior managers and as a valued colleague to other directors and partners.
  • Contribute to overall office efficiency by providing feedback on staff performance, participating in initiatives for ongoing staff development, and developing a teaming culture.
  • Identify opportunities for expanded services to prospective and existing clients through the development of 'trusted advisor' status with clients served.
  • Manage a network of decision-makers and outside relationships to create referrals and references and foster long-term business development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's preferred.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop tax staff, seniors, managers, and senior managers.
  • Experience preparing complex federal corporate (C and S), multi-state, individual, and partnership returns.
  • Basic knowledge of financial services products.
  • Strong understanding of IRS practice and procedure.
  • Ability to review complex tax planning projects and identify additional planning opportunities.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and help staff understand and apply policies from tax quality control documents.
