Job Overview:
The Healthcare Business Operations Manager oversees all functions related to the business office, including patient admissions, financial counseling, data management, and eligibility assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct and manage all patient registration activities to ensure accurate and timely data entry into the system.
• Conduct interviews with patients and their families to gather essential personal and financial information, confirming eligibility for both inpatient and outpatient services.
• Ensure that all charge capture processes, including ancillary charges, are accurately recorded and posted to patient accounts promptly.
• Review daily reports on out-of-pocket collections to ensure that the collection efforts align with the hospital's specific targets.
• Provide information on payment options to patients facing financial difficulties, including healthcare credit lines and financial assistance programs, ensuring arrangements are finalized before discharge.
• Monitor the Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) process to guarantee that all necessary documentation is complete and processed in a timely manner.
• Oversee self-pay accounts to ensure that patients are quoted appropriate rates and that accounts are managed correctly.
• Track compliance of patients on payment plans and reach out to those who are non-compliant to arrange for account updates.
• Develop and implement collection policies and procedures, training staff to ensure compliance with relevant State and Federal laws.
• Manage personnel activities related to direct staff supervision, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and employee relations.

Qualifications:
Education:
• Associate's Degree required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Professional certifications such as HFMA or AAHAM are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience:
• 4-5 years of experience in healthcare, ideally within a hospital setting.
• 2-4 years of management experience is required.
• Familiarity with medical business office operations, including benefits verification, patient admissions, charge capture, and collections is preferred.
