We are seeking part-time adjunct teaching faculty to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an English Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students.

About the Role:

This is a part-time, adjunct teaching faculty-ranked appointment without state benefits. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English courses, developing curriculum, and assessing student learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach English courses to a diverse student population
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with departmental goals
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of departmental initiatives

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in English or a related field
  • 18 graduate semester hours in English
  • Experience in teaching English courses, preferably at the community college level
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Community college teaching experience
  • Experience with online teaching, including online synchronous classes
  • Availability to teach on-campus classes
  • Experience with Canvas and Zoom
