Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. You will work closely with our Center Physician and other medical team members to ensure the highest level of care for our donors.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Manage donor deferral, reviewing test results and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
- Initiate and investigate Post Donation Information (PDI).
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, problem-solving, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues.
- Assist the EHS program as required, including conducting pre-placement evaluations of new hires and supporting the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be assigned: Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification required.
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
