The House Supervisor RN is responsible for overseeing the operations of the medical center during their assigned shift, ensuring that high-quality patient care is provided in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Swedish Health Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts daily rounds to communicate with the nursing staff to ensure patient care requirements are met. Provides assistance to nursing personnel in delivering patient care by interpreting and enforcing established standards, particularly in emergency situations.
- Addresses any concerns related to patient and family care with the Manager, supporting nursing staff in their advocacy roles to clarify ethical and legal matters.
- Ensures appropriate patient placement and resource allocation for optimal care delivery. Works towards achieving departmental budgetary goals while adhering to staffing guidelines to meet patient needs. Reports any changes in staffing plans that may impact care quality and budget.
- Offers ongoing feedback to the Manager regarding staff performance and competency. Collaborates with the Manager to identify educational needs and encourages staff participation in professional development activities.
- Acts as a representative of Swedish Health Services to patients, visitors, and medical staff in the absence of executive leadership.
- Ensures smooth and efficient operations across all hospital departments, interpreting and enforcing adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrates leadership during emergencies and crisis situations, identifying opportunities for quality improvement and initiating appropriate actions.
- Participates in committee and administrative meetings relevant to the role, utilizing effective delegation and prioritization skills.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- Current National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
- Minimum of one year of Charge Nurse or leadership experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
