Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical substation systems, including high voltage electrical substations, and providing consulting services to clients across the US and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical substation systems, including high voltage electrical substations
  • Provide consulting services to clients across the US and internationally
  • Lead and execute projects, including preparation of proposals and scope development, engineering cost and labor estimates, and schedules
  • Prepare engineering studies, including grounding, lightning protection, AC/DC load studies, and equipment specifications
  • Coordinate design activities with other departments and provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
  • Perform quality reviews and provide short-term field support during construction
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • 7 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals, including understanding of three-phase power systems
  • Familiarity with microprocessor-based protection and control systems
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, and ANSI
