SGI Global is looking for a dedicated Civil Enforcement Investigator to join our team in supporting the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Louisiana. This role is essential in facilitating the initiation of new inquiries, advancing ongoing investigations, and aiding civil actions aimed at enforcing federal regulations or recovering federal assets lost due to fraudulent activities, mismanagement, or misconduct.

Position is contingent upon award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage regularly with ACE attorneys and designated agency representatives to foster the development of fraud investigations.
  • Conduct a variety of supportive investigative tasks related to assigned fraud cases:
    • Leverage electronic databases, including public records, property records, and business records, to uncover documents, witnesses, and other pertinent evidence.
    • Draft comprehensive reports detailing investigation progress for the use of AUSAs and supervisory attorneys, encompassing significant findings, analyses of electronic data, and recommendations for further investigative actions.
    • Scrutinize financial documents such as ledgers, payrolls, invoices, and other records relevant to the investigations.
    • Perform in-depth analyses of extensive hard-copy and electronic datasets, including healthcare claims and financial transaction records, to identify investigative leads.
    • Collect and assess facts, including witness statements and scientific data, to further investigative goals and validate the authenticity of evidence.
    • Develop and analyze evidence, gathering information from primary and secondary sources to clarify the suspect's operational patterns and recommend investigative strategies.
    • Assist ACE AUSAs with interviews, depositions, and sworn witness examinations.
    • Support the preparation and service of subpoenas for documentary materials and witness testimony in relation to ACE investigations.
    • Acquire a thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws to inform investigation direction and scope.
    • Identify optimal methods for planning and executing investigations, determining necessary resources.
    • Perform additional ACE investigator duties as assigned.
    • Participate in required meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access, and other databases, with experience in document review platforms and claims data analysis being advantageous.
  • Ability to comprehend a diverse range of documents, both legal and non-legal.
  • Independent thinking and the capability to devise investigative strategies tailored to specific cases.
  • Strong communication skills, with a professional demeanor when interacting with all levels of staff.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively within a professional environment.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, with a courteous and tactful approach to interactions.
