Position Summary
The Accounting and Compliance Manager will be instrumental in various facets of Accounting and Reporting, with a significant emphasis on ensuring adherence to the Company's internal control framework. Reporting to the assistant controller, this role will involve monitoring control effectiveness throughout the month, verifying the accuracy of control documentation, and identifying areas for enhancement within the control environment. Additional responsibilities include performing general accounting tasks and supporting external financial audits as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the completion and effectiveness of controls utilizing Floqast software and reviewing supporting documentation to ensure adequacy.
- Collaborate with the Company's third-party internal audit team and external auditors to facilitate control testing.
- Lead the general ledger accounting team, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by collecting and analyzing data from the general ledger and various departments.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely provision of documentation for annual and quarterly financial audits.
- Manage annual insurance audits.
- Identify improvement opportunities and propose new tools and processes.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to provide solutions for accounting and financial inquiries through data research and interpretation.
- Support special projects by reviewing financial data and acquiring additional information as necessary.
- Safeguard the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of information.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Eligibility to work legally in the United States.
- Commitment to a drug-free workplace and agreement to a post-offer drug test.
- Adherence to safety protocols to minimize OSHA recordable incidents.
- Extensive knowledge of industry standards and accounting principles; proficiency in MS Office is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively plan and organize to meet deadlines.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory; CPA or MBA is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including some supervisory responsibilities.
- Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Language Proficiency
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from various stakeholders.
Mathematical Proficiency
Ability to apply accounting concepts and perform related calculations. Should possess business acumen, including knowledge of operating expenses and profit margins. Capable of applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world scenarios.
Reasoning Skills
Ability to address practical problems and manage various variables in situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
Technical Skills
To excel in this role, candidates should have knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, as well as reporting tools related to databases.
Certificates and Licenses
Must possess a valid driver's license.
