Park Deputy Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Park Deputy is responsible for performing security and law enforcement functions within the Oakland County Parks. This role involves enforcing state laws and local ordinances, responding to emergency calls, and providing first aid services until assistance arrives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce state laws and local ordinances within the Oakland County Parks
  • Respond to emergency calls, including accidents, property damage, and disturbances
  • Provide first aid services until assistance arrives
  • Supervise trusty (inmate) work details assigned inside the Parks
  • Utilize current Countywide and/or department-specific software to complete assignments
Requirements:
  • Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development (G.E.D.) Test
  • Possess current MCOLES license or be currently attending a Police Academy training or its equivalent
  • Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license
  • Have not been convicted of a violation of criminal law, including domestic violence
  • Have at least 20/20 corrected vision in both eyes and have normal color vision and depth perception in both eyes
  • Have normal corrected hearing in each ear
Special Requirements:
  • Maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license
  • Maintain firearms qualification and deputy status
  • Pass a field investigation covering an evaluation of employment, school, home, credit, criminal, military, or other personal records
