Job Overview

The Fitness Center Supervisor is tasked with managing the daily operations of the gym to guarantee an outstanding member experience while ensuring the club's financial success. This role involves leading a dedicated team of staff members in a supportive and motivating environment, focusing on their training and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, onboard, and cultivate a high-performing team, including Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
  • Foster a welcoming environment for all members, prospective members, and guests, ensuring that staff adheres to exceptional customer service standards.
  • Team Management
    • Organize staff schedules to ensure all shifts are adequately covered.
    • Lead by example, maintaining accountability for team members through training and coaching, while promoting adherence to company values and objectives.
    • Oversee the administration and processing of employee payroll on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
    • Address and resolve employee concerns or issues as they arise.
    • Manage disciplinary actions and termination processes when necessary.
  • Engage in all front desk operations, including:
    • Answering phone calls in a courteous manner and assisting callers with various inquiries.
    • Checking members into the system efficiently.
    • Facilitating new member sign-ups.
    • Conducting tours for prospective members.
    • Addressing all member requests, issues, and inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure timely opening and closing of the gym.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility, taking responsibility for a significant portion of daily cleaning tasks.
    • Ensure the safety of employees, members, and club property.
    • Identify and communicate equipment repair needs promptly.
  • Manage marketing initiatives by ensuring staff is informed and trained on all promotional activities.
  • Authorize expenditures and process refunds as needed. Conduct daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare and submit all HR-related documentation to the Corporate Payroll Team.
  • Monitor and report on key statistics (weekly, monthly, annually).
  • Provide backup support for any staff member who is absent.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional customer service skills, ideally within the fitness sector.
  • Prior experience as an Assistant Manager in a fitness environment.
  • Strong leadership, diplomacy, and listening abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Suite).
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Current CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Regular communication in person or via phone during the shift.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • May encounter hazardous materials during the shift.
