Stanford University's Department of Neurosurgery is on the lookout for an Associate Coordinator for Clinical Research to undertake responsibilities associated with the management of clinical research initiatives.

The projects may encompass gene and stem-cell therapies, pharmaceutical and device trials, extensive longitudinal studies, and various principal investigator-led endeavors focused on treatments in pediatric and adult neurosurgery.

The Associate Coordinator will oversee moderately intricate components of multiple clinical studies while operating under the close supervision of the manager, senior coordinator, and principal investigator.

This role supports clinical research studies funded by industry, federal grants, and other sources. There are pathways for long-term advancement within the team, or this position can serve as a stepping stone for a career in biomedical sciences.

This is a full-time role, with a commitment of at least two years strongly preferred. The Associate Coordinator is expected to be present on-site up to five days a week, with potential requirements for occasional evening and weekend hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison with research participants, sponsors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in the screening, recruitment, and consent processes for study participants, including reviewing medical records and conducting interviews as necessary.
  • Schedule appointments for subjects and provide reminders or other pertinent information.
  • Handle clerical tasks related to the preparation of regulatory documents and the upkeep of study regulatory binders.
  • Maintain subject study binders, ensuring all forms and documents are accurately filed.
  • Extract data from source documents and complete case report forms and electronic data capture (EDC) forms for assigned studies.
  • Collect, process, and ship specimens in accordance with clinical protocols and IRB guidelines.
  • Order and manage study supplies effectively.
  • Prepare, administer, and evaluate study questionnaires and tests as required.
  • Participate in monitoring visits and regulatory audits.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with databases such as REDCap.
  • Ability to interact patiently and resourcefully with individuals and their families.
  • Knowledge of data-related research and the presentation of research findings.
  • Enjoyment in working directly with patients and their families.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education & Experience (Required):

A two-year college degree and two years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.

Certifications & Licenses:

Certification from the Society of Clinical Research Associates or the Association of Clinical Research Professionals is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, and fine motor tasks are required. Occasional sitting, reaching above shoulders, performing desk-based computer tasks, using a telephone, and writing by hand are also necessary. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 40 pounds may be required.

Working Conditions:

Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary, along with overtime as required.

The expected pay range for this position is $27.88 to $36.54 per hour, reflecting Stanford University's good faith estimate of compensation for this role.
