About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coordinator, Infant Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the Center for Justice Innovation. This is a full-time position located in Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical and developmental screenings of infants and caregivers to identify areas of need and develop targeted interventions.
  • Collaborate with court personnel, stakeholders, and community-based service providers to ensure seamless coordination of services and support for families.
  • Develop and implement family-specific service plans that prioritize the needs of infants and caregivers, with a focus on promoting healthy attachment and development.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of parent-child relationships, capacity, and strengths, as well as areas in need of support.
  • Facilitate referrals to high-quality services and track client progress, identifying barriers to treatment and developing strategies to overcome them.
  • Lead monthly Infant/Family focused Clinical Conferences, providing infant-focused feedback to the Court Team to ensure that infants' needs are expressed and met.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Judge and Court Team, summarizing ongoing assessment and outcomes of monthly Clinical Conferences.
  • Provide infant development and mental health expertise to the Judge and Court Team through formal trainings and day-to-day consultation.
  • Attend all Court Conferences and multi-disciplinary meetings with CPS/Foster Care Agency and Community Partners.
  • Engage community-based service providers and government systems serving infants and families, forming meaningful relationships and collaborating to support family treatment and inclusion in the Court process.
  • Participate in quarterly meetings of the SSCI Steering Committee and assist with data collection and program evaluation.
  • Participate in and assist with providing training in infant development and infant mental health to the wider Court community and child welfare system stakeholder groups.
Requirements
  • Master's degree (or higher) in social work, psychology, child development, or a related field, with a minimum of five years' experience working with infants and families, including a strong background in infant mental health.
  • Background in trauma and trauma-informed interventions, with knowledge of local infant/family-serving systems and organizations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with and provide leadership to a multidisciplinary practitioner group, engaging and supporting court-involved parents.
  • Knowledge of screening assessment tools for infants and caregivers, as well as issues related to child abuse/neglect and systems that interface with court-involved families.
  • Excellent written skills and bilingual (English-Spanish) proficiency, with knowledge of Family Court, CPS, and/or foster agency practice.
  • Experience with systems change and community building, with training in Child Parent Psychotherapy.
