Job Title: Roadway Design Manager

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Roadway Design Manager to lead its Transportation Business Line in the East Region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil engineering, highway design, and analysis, with a strong background in alternative delivery methods and project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all roadway engineering technical aspects of projects with other disciplines and in support of the Project/Design Manager.
  • Interface with contractor clients through the progression of design deliverables.
  • Ensure the roadway design is completed in accordance with contract guidelines and design documents.
  • Establish roadway scope, work plan, and work schedule in support of the Project/Design Manager.
  • Comply with company safety awareness programs and policies.
  • Manage groups of engineers, designers, and/or specialists towards the development of civil design documents and contract deliverables with minimal guidance or supervision.
  • Assure conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring that design documents are reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff and support career growth opportunities for staff.
  • Support marketing coordination and proposal preparation. Participate in proposal interviews.
  • Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and ensure the technical quality of deliverables. Lead responses to client comments on roadway design elements of deliverables.
  • Anticipate potential budget and schedule impacts and initiate plans for alternative actions.
  • Incorporate innovation in design and delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field + 10 years of relevant design experience in civil engineering - highway design and analysis or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and be willing to obtain reciprocity in the jurisdiction of the projects.
  • Valid Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
