Chief of Urology and Academic Leader Opportunity

Carilion Clinic, a progressive and emerging leader in American healthcare, is seeking a Chief of Urology and Academic Leader to lead our growing team of urologists and advanced care practitioners in a clinic-based, academic program with remarkable prospects in teaching, research, and clinical urology.

About the Opportunity

This is a unique chance to join a dynamic, academic multi-specialty group practice providing comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care for adults and children supported by state-of-the-art technology, advanced diagnostic tools, and treatment options.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the clinical, educational, and research activities for the Section
  • Plan and build a future Urologic Surgery Residency Program
  • Lead the team in providing comprehensive urology coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area
  • Operate clinics in five satellite locations in the region
  • Collaborate with Carilion Clinic's 7 hospitals, 282 outpatient clinics, and 788 physicians representing more than 75+ specialties
Requirements
  • MD/DO, Board Certification/Eligible in Urology
  • At least 5 years of progressive urology leadership in an academic setting with an academic rank of at least Associate Professor
  • Evidence of strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Physician leadership experience with emphasis on team building, development of integrated collaborative models of care, education, and research, and managing people and programs
  • Experience with graduate medical education is preferred
  • Fellowship Training in a Urologic specialty is preferred

We are actively involved in the education of medical students, residents from multiple CC-VTCSOM training programs, allied health science students, and Virginia Tech undergraduate and graduate students. We currently provide clinical training for general surgery residents with the goal of establishing a urology residency program in the near future.
