Rehabilitative Therapy Assistant (Per Diem)

As an Acute Care Rehabilitative Therapy Assistant, you will work under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist to deliver therapeutic treatments to patients. Your responsibilities may span various outpatient settings within Billings Clinic. Key skills include participation in multidisciplinary team care discussions, discharge planning, assessment and treatment of acutely ill and medically complex patients, involvement in ergonomics training, and interdepartmental education. You will also oversee rehabilitation technicians and PTA students, utilizing various aspects of EMR for documentation, billing, and communication. Flexibility in shift requirements is essential, including availability on weekends and holidays.
Essential Job Functions
* Embody and promote behaviors that align with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and the department/service.
* Administer both active and passive therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation.
* Guide, motivate, and assist patients in enhancing their functional activities.
* Monitor patients during treatments, compiling and evaluating data on their responses and progress, coordinating with the Physical Therapist. Document all relevant information in medical records according to established protocols in an acute care environment.
* Fit patients for, adjust, and instruct them in the use and maintenance of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, including crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
* Collaborate with other healthcare team members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for the planning and modification of treatment care plans.
* Measure patients' range of joint motion, body part dimensions, and vital signs to assess treatment effects or assist the physical therapist in compiling evaluation data.
* Perform clerical duties, including accurate entry of patient charges, inventory management, supply ordering, answering phones, taking messages, and completing forms.
* Apply performance improvement principles to enhance quality.
* Identify personal growth needs and set development goals; fulfill all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Engage in educational meetings related to continuing education, co-worker in-services, and Billings Clinic educational offerings to enhance knowledge and professional skills.
* Maintain competency in all safety standards relevant to job performance as set by the organization, department, and external agencies.
* Execute additional duties as assigned to meet departmental and organizational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
* Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
Certifications and Licenses
* Healthcare Provider CPR certification required upon hire.
* Montana Physical Therapy Assistant license.
