We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Mining team, you will be responsible for providing geotechnical engineering services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare proposals for geotechnical services for civil engineering projects, including cost estimates and timelines.
- Provide geotechnical related services to the Mine Waste unit, including geotechnical modeling, analysis, and design, geotechnical investigations, and liaison with external commercial laboratories.
- Conceptualize, pre-feasibility, and feasibility design studies for tailings and mine waste facilities.
- Plan and carry out assignments requiring familiarity with a broad range of geotechnical engineering, with reciprocal knowledge of other technical work.
- Utilize combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, and methods developed in other assignments when analyzing each unique project.
- Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and third parties to accomplish project objectives.
- Manage projects to achieve client objectives, including briefing and control of staff and contractors allocated to the project, scheduling work, cost control, and utilization management.
- Direct field activities, including investigation, monitoring, and testing services on construction projects.
- Attend project meetings and carry out site inspections when senior technical guidance and support are required.
- Review and interpret monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation programs.
- Carry out analysis of data, including computer analysis.
- Write and review technical reports.
- Work with senior staff when dealing with difficult, complex, and unusual matters and decisions.
- Perform independent studies, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions.
- Work independently with little supervision, depending on the complexity of the assignment.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, mining staff, and other stakeholders.
- Continuing own technical skills development and propagation of those skills to others.
- Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering with a post-graduate degree preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical engineering, preferably predominantly obtained in a consulting engineering environment.
- 5 years experience with Tailings, Dam, and Mine waste.
- PE required.
- Management of engineering teams consisting of intermediate and junior professionals and technicians.
- Development of comprehensive scopes of work to the client's requirements.
- Use of high-level engineering principles.
- Ensuring that standards and criteria have been met.
- Maintaining budgetary control, including changes in the scope of work due to client requirements and physical/geotechnical conditions.
- Accurately and appropriately reporting project assignments on schedule.
- Management of multiple projects at one time.
- Experience with complex geotechnical investigations and design work.
- Proven mentoring of junior engineering staff.
- Other skills, including:
- Strong verbal and written (English) communication.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact when interacting with fellow staff, clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including multi-tasking and prioritizing.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with standard construction procedures and methodologies.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Advanced computer analysis experience.
- Valid driver's license and vehicle.
We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $150,000, based on several factors, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
