Role Overview
Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) is seeking a Program Manager to spearhead internal development, capital, and contract initiatives across a range of cutting-edge technologies, including 5G, free space optics, software-defined networking, and tactical communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume overall accountability for program execution through effective leadership, scheduling, financial oversight, and risk management while maintaining clear communication with program stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business area management to evaluate market and product opportunities, providing insights from a program management perspective on the feasibility of executing market requirements.
- Guide critical go/no-go decisions regarding new products and projects.
- Exhibit a proactive and adaptable project-oriented approach, balancing delegation to engineering PMs with hands-on involvement in areas requiring support.
- Enhance the performance measurement and improvement of customer experiences within the Viasat Government Segment.
- Act as the primary liaison to customers, representing the entire program team and Viasat.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes for equipment and services related to communications and networking initiatives.
- Analyze program data and metrics to identify trends, optimize performance, and inform future strategic decisions.
- Represent the organization at industry events and conferences, fostering relationships and staying informed about current trends and market dynamics.
- Utilize a collaborative and consultative leadership style, relying on sound judgment and personal expertise to foster persuasion and consensus.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in project or program management, demonstrating a successful track record in leading complex technical projects.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Experience in developing network technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Proven experience managing co-located teams across diverse geographical locations.
- Demonstrated capability in leading proposal efforts and engaging in ongoing business development.
- Comprehensive understanding of Profit/Loss concepts.
- Experience with various contract types and risk management practices.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or Software).
- Master of Business Administration.
- Interest in proposal and white paper writing.
- Experience with government systems and service acquisition.
- Familiarity with the Earned Value Management System.
- Project Management Professional Certification.
- Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $129,000 to $224,300 annually. At Viasat, we consider various factors when determining compensation, including the scope of the role and the candidate's background and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be part of the compensation package, along with a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the position offered.
