Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dietetic Technician to join our team at Becker Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide nutrition care services to patients and clients, addressing prevention and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and conditions, and promoting overall health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Conduct nutrition assessments of patients within the scope of practice of a Dietetic Technician-Registered, based on screening and documentation guidelines.
    • Implement and monitor nutritional interventions assigned by the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to meet the nutritional needs of patients.
    • Estimate nutritional intakes of patients, calculate and document calorie counts as requested, and assist RDs with data collection as needed.
    • Identify patients in need of in-depth assessment by the RD and transfer care appropriately.
    • Instruct patients (and/or families, as appropriate) on restricted/special diets or special formulas, and refer for outpatient follow-up as necessary.
  • Enteral Feeding Production
    • Prepare, portion, and deliver patient enteral feeding orders accurately and timely.
    • Be knowledgeable about human milk, formulas, and additives used in infant, pediatric, and adult patients.
    • Practice aseptic technique when producing specialty formula and human milk mixtures for patient consumption.
  • Business Functions
    • Maintain a friendly, efficient demeanor and model CHOP ICARE Values and Service Standards.
    • Participate in ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement activities as requested.
    • Maintain productivity, screening, and other documentation of activities as requested.
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to patients and families, public, medical staff, and physicians.
  • Basic knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy in pediatric patients.
  • Basic knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Competence in nutritional content, sources, and use of commercial supplements, tube feedings, human milk, infant formulas, and feeding modulars (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals).
  • Ability to perform increasingly complex mathematical calculations such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and metric measures.
  • Computer proficiency required.
