Job Summary

The Kentucky State Police is seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Telecommunications Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing critical support to our law enforcement officers by answering emergency calls, gathering information, and dispatching personnel as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answering emergency calls, including 911, and dispatching personnel to respond to emergencies.
  • Gathering and relaying pertinent information from each communication to ensure a swift and effective response.
  • Providing pre-arrival instructions during medical emergencies to help minimize harm and ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Operating the Computer Aided Dispatching system to track and manage emergency responses.
  • Familiarity with the Post region and its emergency response protocols.
  • Utilizing law enforcement systems nationwide to assist troopers and detectives with investigations.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • None required, but certification as a LINK/NCIC Operator, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and Telecommunicator by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council within the specified timeframes is mandatory.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a communications center at a Kentucky State Police Post, often under extremely stressful conditions. Rotating shifts may be required, and a comprehensive training program will be provided to ensure the successful candidate's success in this role.
