Overview

The Production Line Technician plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, overseeing the fundamental operations of extrusion lines while also contributing to the training of new team members.

As they enhance their expertise by mastering various production lines, the Production Line Technician aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of quality benchmarks.

This position requires adherence to all safety protocols and operational procedures to guarantee the effective and secure functioning of the production line. The role operates within established guidelines and company policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute basic production tasks, including loading materials, managing trim, adjusting roll dimensions, and preparing finished products by lifting, labeling, and packaging stretch film rolls. Conduct visual inspections to ensure quality standards are met and accurately report production metrics.
  • Prepare items for shipment by organizing packaging materials and efficiently packing finished products, utilizing both manual and automated wrapping techniques as per operational protocols.
  • Begin training on various production lines and assist in fulfilling staffing requirements by performing tasks across different areas of the production floor.
  • Learn quality control standards and participate in quality testing, including completing necessary documentation and reporting results to management to maintain compliance with quality expectations.
  • Support continuous line operation by coordinating shift transitions and promptly communicating any operational issues to senior staff or management.
  • Assist in onboarding new Production Line Technicians when integrated into the production workflow.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Proven experience in previous line operator roles.
  • Technical understanding of machinery and systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Mechanical skills to effectively use basic hand tools.
  • Ability to accurately utilize measurement tools.
  • Sound judgment and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong multitasking abilities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Basic math skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in environments with static electricity that may affect certain medical devices.
  • Capability to utilize near, far, and peripheral vision for task execution.
  • Manual dexterity to hold, touch, and manipulate objects.
  • Regularly perform pushing, pulling, and lifting tasks.
  • Frequent standing, walking, crouching, and bending.
  • Occasional kneeling and climbing.
  • Ability to lift and move weights between 45-55 lbs regularly, and up to 65 lbs occasionally.
  • Effective verbal communication skills in person and over communication systems.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a plastics manufacturing environment is advantageous.
