Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist II to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As an MRI Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing MRI procedures, utilizing MRI scanners and power injectors to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI procedures, including administering contrast media and other imaging agents as needed.
  • Assess patient risk for allergic reactions to contrast media and other related medications.
  • Evaluate lab values prior to administering contrast media or other related medications.
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and families, using age-appropriate language.
  • Perform ordered exams or therapy in accordance with established imaging protocols.
  • Document deviations from protocol and/or patient-specific issues that may impact image quality.
  • Notify healthcare providers when immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings, patient condition, or other relevant concerns.
  • Timely complete all required post-processing, image display, and transfer for physician review.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), ARRT-MRI, BLS.
  • Successful completion of a 6-month orientation program.
  • At least one year of experience in MRI technology (individuals with less experience may be considered for direct hire).
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to radiation and other medical equipment. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
