Position Overview

The Retail Operations Leader is tasked with embodying MedMen's mission and values to cultivate a high-performing team that consistently achieves sales growth. Collaborating with the General Manager, this role oversees a team of Co-Managers, ensuring effective management of a retail location and various assigned projects.

This leader enhances business performance through a focus on:

  • Customer Experience: Implementing sales training, product knowledge, and leadership development.
  • Product Management: Ensuring visual merchandising, product performance, and promotional activities are optimized.
  • Operational Excellence: Overseeing product intake, adherence to policies, expense management, compliance, and loss prevention.

The Retail Operations Leader is accountable for the store's financial success, holding full P&L responsibility. This role requires strategic thinking to respond to business needs and capitalize on market trends to drive profitable sales growth. Experience in talent assessment, recruitment, and screening is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Performance:

  • Achieve or surpass targets related to store sales, profitability, and operational standards.
  • Forecast and adjust staffing to maximize productivity and meet sales objectives.
  • Build a team that represents the MedMen brand by delivering outstanding service and fostering customer loyalty.
  • Regularly review financial and operational reports, including store audits.
  • Identify underperforming metrics and develop strategies utilizing company resources to enhance business growth.

Team Development:

  • Foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Recruit, interview, and retain a diverse team of top talent.
  • Ensure appropriate placement of individuals within the management structure.
  • Train and develop team members using company resources.
  • Encourage open communication and share corporate strategies with associates.
  • Promote teamwork by collaborating with the management team to set priorities and provide direction.

Operational Management:

  • Analyze compliance data to ensure adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Utilize scheduling tools to ensure optimal staffing for customer service and operational needs.
  • Protect company assets by ensuring compliance with safety and inventory control standards.
  • Manage performance issues in partnership with the General Manager and HR.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by implementing company programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience in a retail environment with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proven ability to meet sales goals and analyze performance metrics.
  • Strong decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in identifying and developing talent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position oversees all employees within designated departments and is responsible for their performance management and hiring.

Working Conditions

This role operates in a professional retail setting and may require long hours, including nights and weekends.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and move products up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and travel to other locations as needed.
