Job Summary

The Health Service Administrative Manager is responsible for overseeing the healthcare operations at a correctional facility. This includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for inmates and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage health services staff, including nursing, dental, medical records, and mental health
  • Ensure staffing levels meet contractual requirements and schedule staff to meet operational needs
  • Responsible for maintaining revenue goals and controlling expenses to ensure profit goals are met
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of healthcare policies and procedures
  • Meet regularly with correctional facility administrators, regional manager, and CorrHealth team members to review reports and discuss needs
  • Plan and present new hire orientation and in-service continuing education programs
  • Ensure licensure, certification, and quality standards are maintained by medical and dental professionals
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health care standards for correctional facilities
  • Assist in the development and review of a disaster plan for health services
  • Be on call to respond to staffing or administrative situations
  • Oversee Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Infection Control programs
  • Monitor use of pharmaceutical services
  • Ensure Chronic Clinics are maintained per CorrHealth policy and protocol
  • Educate patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of health records and medical information
Requirements
  • Associates, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or health-related field preferred
  • Five (5) years of specialized experience in an administrative, clerical management, or managerial position in the healthcare field
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, inmates, and administrators
  • Ability to analyze and coordinate administrative, clinical, and other service activities
  • Knowledge of regulations, requirements, and standards across various administrative areas

Security Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance with the client/facility
  • Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary and move throughout the facility
  • Ability to convey and discern information in a conversation
  • Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
  • Frequently transports objects up to 50 pounds
