A prominent client of TekStream Solutions is in search of a skilled and proactive FOIA Specialist to contribute to a significant federal initiative, requiring an active Secret clearance. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining onsite and remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate collaboration with various components of the organization for the assessment of relevant records and the management of case deliveries.
- Assist in recognizing classified materials, including Restricted Data and critical military technologies.
- Support the identification of organizational equities.
- Determine information that is exempt from disclosure in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring proper application of exemptions.
- Conduct necessary coordination and maintain thorough documentation.
- Oversee the reproduction of documents essential for case records.
- Track agency coordination to ascertain review progress.
- Manage case registration, including Classified Document Registries and other administrative tasks.
- Maintain accurate database and records management for each case utilizing the organization's systems.
- Review release recommendations from the organization and assist in resolving discrepancies.
- Execute electronic redaction of exempt information for case documentation.
- Prepare comprehensive Vaughn indices, detailing each withheld document, the statutory exemption claimed, and the rationale for non-disclosure.
- Draft internal and external correspondence for legal representatives for review and dissemination.
- Examine information pertinent to ongoing legal matters and accurately identify responsive materials for further action.
- Identify privileged information within records related to ongoing litigation.
- Compile detailed privilege logs, specifying each document containing privileged material, the claimed privilege, and the justification for non-disclosure.
- Provide support for additional litigation requirements as necessary.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance or Interim Top Secret clearance is mandatory to commence work.
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to information management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in case analysis, including conducting FOIA or similar reviews, identifying exemptions, and applying redactions.
- Experience in identifying and safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Familiarity with the nine FOIA Disclosure Exemptions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exhibit strong analytical capabilities, reading comprehension, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, collaborate effectively in a team setting, and adapt to established workflows.
- Possess outstanding leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
